Coke Studio® AI photo booth at Electric Avenue

Briefed with an 'only Coke can do' photo experience for the Coke Studio activation space at the Electric Avenue Festival in Christchurch, we proposed an AI experience to align with the Coke Brand messaging “Real Magic®”.

How it worked

Festival goers were given a unique experience to get their own personalised vinyl cover created by the power of AI. As they approached the activation, they were prompted to scan a QR code to register. The code linked them directly into the registration form on their phone, where a few inputs later, they could generate their own personalised QR code to use in the photo booth.

While they waited their turn they could preview all the previously generated photos on a big screen, showing photos of the people who had agreed to have their photo promoted to the big screen.

Once it was their turn in the spotlight, they had their unique QR code scanned, then posed for the professional photographer and had their photo taken in the booth. The best photo was sent to the cloud where the AI would generate a specially created Coke Studio® Real Magic® version of themselves, in real time. Within a minute or two, an email was triggered to the user with a unique link to view and share their photo as well as an animated "reel" version.

Plus, they were entered into a prize draw.

The technology

Satellite powered the registration and user management flow, triggered email and personalised photo collection page via our live experience platform Tag. We built the photo application to capture the best pose and send it to the cloud, and we used a custom deployment of an AI modal from Replicate to generate the photo. As a final stage of customisation, we created a series of overlay filters to push the visual output up a further notch, and the end results were amazingly cinematic, moody and richly coloured.

The results

Party people loved their special vinyl cover photo. Something close to what they'd see in the mirror if they were dressed up to feature in their own music video, but sort of not at the same time. A special blend of recognition and surreal beauty. The results speak for themselves. 

The photobooth activation would be reused over at over again at music events and festivals where Coke Studio® was present.
